Nature Identical flavors taste awesome

I just ate a packet of Arnott's flame grilled bbq flavoured minimunchies. I checked the ingredients to see if my vegetarian friends could eat any, and noticed that it had Nature Identical flavors.

According to the Australia New Zeland Food Standards:
http://www.foodstandards.gov.au/_srcfiles/flavourings_user_guide_0802.pdf

Nature-identical flavouring substances
Nature-identical substances means flavouring substances that are obtained by synthesis or isolated through chemical processes, which are chemically identical to flavouring substances naturally present in products intended for human consumption. They cannot contain any artificial flavouring substances.

So there you go. Better living by chemistry - a bbq flavor made from carbon and sulphur and nitrogen from any source. Who knows? Is it from meat? Is it from vegetable? Is it petroleum? Who knows.
