wolfram alpha - the semantic search engine

http://www.wolframalpha.com/

Type in questions, the wolfram alpha search engine will synthesize answers based on available facts.

So if you ask for deaths in iraq it gives you

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=iraq+deaths

which has demographic data which puts it in context.

Of course, I'd like to see the source of these figures to the page, rather than just getting the CIA world factbook homepage when I click on "sources". ah well. May Wolfram alpha live long and prosper.

I found it quite amusing that when I input the example questions from The Age, that apparently turn results, it told me it "Didn't know what to do with the input"

Hello!

I'm sorry I was rude to you at Bio 21 today, was racing the clock to get my lasts assignments in for the semester and avoid a 10% mark reduction (Sarah was very nicely helping me print). I would have loved to stop and talk otherwise!

It's all good, I could see you had the "I have an essay" look on your face. I'm very familiar with the predicament.

I wrote a nice long review on someone else's journal:) My initial reaction was that it didn't come up with the information that I wanted. It had the time that light would take to get from Melbourne to Sydney, but not the time a car would. It didn't have information on my last name, nor the name it derives from. Love the concept, not working yet.
